Joya McCrory is an Emmy-nominated comedy writer from Detroit who likes to tell sneakily heartfelt stories about identity and figuring out one’s place in the world (with only a dash of snark 😉 ).
Joya is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she majored in English and won a Summer Hopwood fiction award for her collection of short stories. She also studied screenwriting at UCLA.
She is an alum of the 2021 Warner Bros. Television Workshop, where she was one of three comedy writers. She is currently a Writer/Supervising Producer on the award-winning show, ABBOTT ELEMENTARY (ABC).
She enjoys going to concerts, drinking iced coffee, creating playlists and craft beer. She does not enjoy talking about herself in the third person.
